Everybody talks about seasonal bid adjustments for upcoming BFCM. But hardly anybody explains how to use them properly. You definitely miss out on additional revenue if you only use your regular settings. Let me explain: Since the conversion rate is naturally much higher on these days than on regular days, you may restrict the algorithm during these peak periods because achieving your target ROAS is much easier. This also applies to your budget. With seasonal bid adjustments, you can prepare the algorithm with expected budget or conversion rate changes. So you don't miss out on those additional sales. So how do you use them properly? We can't predict the future, but your historical data is a good starting point. 1. 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱𝘀. Look for changes in conversion rate on campaign type and device level. Also, check your spending during this timeframe. 2. 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Go to Tools > Budgets and Bidding > Adjustments and hit the blue + icon. 3. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱. Fill in the results of your data analysis. Adjust your expected CVR and budget changes per campaign type and device accordingly. 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗽 Be sure to analyze the days following Black Friday closely. Sometimes, you might see a sharp drop in CVR. In this example, though, the opposite happened. The CVR remained high after Black Friday, but the volume declined. Here, we'll test budget adjustments specifically for the post-event period.

When everyone on Linkedin only talks about being successful on Linkedin... What's the point? A German rap line said "if nothing but rap moves you anymore, what will you rap about?" And I think that's so true for Linkedin in particular, but also for B2B marketing as a whole. Marketing tactics matter so little in B2B, even if marketing influencers want to make you believe that it's all about the frameworks that lead to success. What really matters is getting your subject matter experts on board with what you're doing, and putting things in the world that are actually relevant and provide a clear perspective. You can't do that as a marketer without industry background. That's the Dunning–Kruger effect in action.

Years ago, I had a client with a lower-than-normal conversion rate. It was even lower for mobile. For some of the most popular Apple and Samsung models, it was zero. Another e-commerce site had a conversion rate of 0.15 %. The client didn't know why their conversion rate was abysmal. 90 % of product page views were for products that couldn't be bought online. That is a sentence we hear every day and I can not emphasize it enough: You need to get the basics right - Start by refining your approach. ✅Focus on creating content with a clear structure, and stay updated with current trends and music. ✅Honestly speaking it does not matter if your content was record with an iPhone, Android or a Toaster (no joke), if it resonates, it resonates and as such it will gain traction. ✅Consistency is key—post regularly and engage with your audience through comments (reply, reply, reply). ✅Make sure your videos are concise and impactful, and don’t forget the power of saving and re-posting your own content. You should always be the biggest fan of your brand / company. Prioritize converting viewers into followers by building genuine connections. ✅Again - Reply, reply, reply. Get into conversations, ask or educate them through direct messages. Brands are here to create experiences; You, are here to create experiences.

𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬: 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩-𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 1 𝐨𝐟 5 (𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞) Last week, Benjamin and I published an article (see link in the first comment) that tackles five persistent marketing myths that are still widely believed despite being, well, false. As a bit of a summer read, we will provide some facts and figures about each one. Starting with: 🙋 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡: "𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭." It's controversial because there are many examples with amazing, talented, and engaged employees. But there is also another reality to marketing operating models: 1️⃣ 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 - According to a 2020 McKinsey study (co-authored by Jeff Jacobs), the typical marketing organization has around 100 active partner contracts, leading to a lot of time spent coordinating external parties. - A big question: Is your team spending time on high-value tasks? There is a lot of science about the weight of meetings (e.g., Insead 2023) in your week. It's always good to review this regularly. And, hello AI, recurring tasks should ideally be automated. 2️⃣ 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 - According to LinkedIn, marketing roles have the highest turnover rate of any job function at 17%, compared to a global rate of 11% (IQ Partners Inc.). - Reports by the American Association of Advertising Agencies alongside LinkedIn show that the turnover rate in marketing has increased by 10% compared to related industries. - According to ANA and Forbes, the annual turnover rate in the advertising industry is about 30% – the second highest after tourism. 3️⃣ 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 - Research by the Great Place to Work Institute and Fortune shows that the best workplaces outperform the S&P 500’s returns by a factor of three. Trust is the central characteristic of these companies. - In high-trust work environments, employees are 23% more likely to offer new ideas and solutions (HR Magazine). - Harvard Business Review states that employees in high-trust companies report 74% less stress, 106% more energy at work, 50% higher productivity, 13% fewer sick days, 76% more engagement, 29% more satisfaction with their lives, and 40% less burnout. ✌️☀️Helpful content: What Google really evaluates?🤓👇 Many statements and opinions on the topic of helpful content revolve around what Google rates as helpful and what does not. The focus here is often on the nature of the content. But does Google really evaluate content? With this article I would like to invite you to a discussion. Here a summary of my thoughts: 📍The helpful content system focuses on ensuring content helps users rather than just ranking higher in search engines. 📍Key metrics for evaluating content helpfulness include click-through rate (CTR), good and bad clicks, dwell time, bounce rate, and content relevance to user queries. 📍Pertinence (the subjective importance for the user) and usefulness (the newness or additional value of the content) are central to determining helpful content. 📍Google's process involves initial ranking, quality classification, and reranking using Twiddlers for fine-tuning. 📍User signals play a major role in determining the helpfulness of content, such as engagement metrics and viewing duration. 📍There is a correlation between content properties and helpfulness, but ultimately user signals causally determine helpfulness. 📍Objective ranking factors alone do not fully capture the helpfulness as they often exclude user-focused metrics. 📍The Helpful Content System echoes a broader framework of user satisfaction measures rather than just document evaluation machinery.
